Workshop B: Birth Control, Sexually Transmitted Infections and Safer Sex Negotiation
Thursday October 27 9:30 am ?1:00 pm

Do you get questions from clients about birth control options or sexually transmitted infections (STI’s)? Do you hear myths and stereotypes being perpetuated about who gets STI’s and why? How do people negotiate when, where and how to have sex and when or if to use birth control? What happens when a person is diagnosed with an STI? How can someone manage a chronic STI and their relationships?

This training gives participants an overview of STIs, birth control options and tools to empower clients to make healthy choices around birth control or STI prevention. It explores the risk factors that increase the chances of STIs, unwanted pregnancy, and unsafe relationships, as well as safer sex negotiation tools that can be shared with clients. This training includes how sexual orientation and gender identity impact these issues.
